Master Bedroom Summer Refresh

The Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour is back, and this time around we’re focusing on the ease of simple summer decor accents! For an entire week, a talented group of bloggers – including myself – will be sharing slices of our homes. I’m thrilled to dive into all the stunning inspiration that’s sure to follow! A huge thank you goes out to Krista from The Happy Housie for hosting this tour and bringing us all together.

If you’re new here, you might recall my previous Summer Tour installment, where I shared my Living Room and Kitchen makeovers. This time around, I wanted to highlight the simple changes I made to give my Master Bedroom a refreshing summer twist!

As we settled into our new home in the Pacific Northwest, I couldn’t help but think about giving our master bedroom a makeover. Having recently moved from Dallas, it was only natural that I would want to put my own stamp on this space. However, after some careful consideration, I’ve come to realize that I’m not quite sure what direction I want to take the room in yet.

Rather than rushing into a major overhaul, I decided to give our master bedroom a ‘summer refresh’ and make a few subtle changes instead. And you know what? It’s been incredibly easy! The key is to start small and focus on making incremental improvements that can add up to big results over time. Here’s how we did it.

Mixing Whites and Creams

When blending whites and creams, remember that restraint is key. A balanced mix can bring sophistication and visual interest to the space. The key is to strike a harmonious equilibrium between the two shades. Avoid adding just one pop of cream as it may give the room an unbalanced, ‘dirty’ feel. Instead, aim for a thoughtful layering that brings together the best qualities of both colors.

I’ve always had a fondness for vintage finds, but when it came to upgrading my nightstands, I was on the hunt for something more contemporary. Partnering with Universal Furniture to bring home these stunning Summer Hill Nightstands has been a game-changer. What drew me to them were their large size, clean lines, and functional design, complete with beautiful ring drawer pulls that add a touch of traditional elegance.

But what really sets these nightstands apart is the smart feature – a lift top and power outlet inside that can accommodate up to three devices. It’s been a lifesaver, allowing me to keep my lamps, mobile phones, and even laptop charged without having to plug them into the wall. And let’s not forget the ease of use – the drawers glide open smoothly, making it a joy to store all our essentials.

I’m thrilled to have Universal Furniture’s high-quality pieces in my home, and I highly recommend these nightstands to anyone looking for stylish storage solutions.

Faux Floral Touches

I’m a huge fan of incorporating both fresh and faux florals into my home decor. In fact, I have a mix of fresh blooms downstairs and upstairs in my office. For this summer refresh, I opted for a charming faux floral arrangement from Michael’s Craft Store that I paired with these dainty glass candleholders – which just so happen to have a beautiful gold rim.

This collaboration with Perigold, where I’ve been named a Tastemaker, has allowed me to share my enthusiasm for their high-quality pieces from top design brands. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be showcasing an array of fabulous finds, including home accents, art, textiles, furniture, and more. For my master bedroom makeover, I chose the stunning Legend Of Asia Spenser Table Vase for a pop of blush that screams summer. The ombre effect is simply captivating, and the gold base stole my heart.

Blush and gold together are a match made in heaven! I knew this vase would pair perfectly with my faux blush cherry blossom stems and complemented nicely by a pretty pineapple candle with an intoxicating scent. To complete the look, I added some pretty pink matches and placed everything on this tray for a cozy touch on my bed.

For another splash of color and to mix things up, I chose my blush pom-pom throw blanket (although it’s currently sold out at Nordstrom, similar throws are available here and here).

As we transition from spring to summer, it’s a great time to refresh our living spaces. While some of us may have missed the spring cleaning boat, jumping into some summer cleaning can be just as beneficial. In fact, there are certain tasks that benefit from being done on a monthly basis.

Here’s what I recommend: first, dust and wipe down your light fixtures; next, vacuum or wipe down your headboard (if it’s not upholstered); then, give your mattress and lamp shades the same treatment to banish dust mites. Quarterly, I also like to steam my mattress and lamp shades for a deeper clean.

Moving on, swap out your linens for crisp whites that can brighten up any room; fold down heavy duvets or quilts; change out throw pillows and throws to inject some summer fun; switch out art and/or accent pieces to keep things fresh; add some fresh or faux florals to bring in a pop of color; and don’t forget to clean those area rugs. My own headboard, from Skyline Furniture, is a lovely ‘Linen Talc’ shade – you can find it online at the usual suspects (links provided).

To give my space a summer makeover, I’ve added blush-toned accents: a plush blush pillow on my vintage chair, blush faux roses in my vase on my dresser, and even left out my Gucci crossbody bag on my vanity. Stay tuned for more updates from my summer decor series – and don’t forget to check out the talented friends below who are sharing their own summer decorating stories today!
