As the autumn leaves turn brilliant shades of red and gold, it’s an ideal moment to infuse our master bedroom with cozy fall elements while maintaining the timeless essence of our beloved blue and white color scheme and cherished floral duvet. I’m thrilled to take you on a tour of my newly refreshed space, where you’ll discover how I’ve skillfully woven warmth and autumn charm throughout the room.

Along the way, I’ll share some of my favorite tips and tricks for bringing cozy fall vibes into your own bedroom! For those curious about our room’s transformation, you can catch a glimpse of the before here.

Embracing Warm Colors

Embracing Warm Colors

To create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in my compact master bedroom, I turned to earthy tones. This departure from my usual decorating style was a deliberate choice, as I wanted to introduce a sense of coziness and intimacy. One key element is the rust-colored kantha throw at the foot of our bed, which adds subtle hints of blue reminiscent of autumn’s foliage. The deep, rich hues instantly imbue the room with a snug and inviting ambiance.

What’s more, my purchase from the U Count campaign marketplace – an organization dedicated to combating human trafficking – not only supports a worthy cause but also adds a unique touch to our bedroom. When it comes to making a lasting impression, it’s often the small details that have the greatest impact.

Layered Bedding for Extra Comfort

Layered Bedding for Extra Comfort

Our blue and white floral duvet has been a staple in our home for over a year, and I couldn’t bear to part with it during the fall season. To give it a seasonal refresh, I layered it with a light blue king-size waffle weave blanket at the foot of the bed, providing an extra layer of warmth and introducing subtle texture and contrast to our bedding. In the cooler months, I do add thicker inserts or double up on inserts as we tend to sleep with the duvet pulled up due to Colorado’s chilly nights.

The base layer is a neutral tan quilt that cleverly hides dirt from our furry friends who sleep with us. Meanwhile, the blue chambray linen euro shams from Lands’ End are incredibly soft and beautifully complement the matching shams on our duvet, highlighting the blue tones. As for the duvet itself, it has been sold out in King size for a while, but I’ve rounded up 14 stunning blue and white floral duvet covers that offer similar charm.

If you love my duvet, I recommend checking if it’s back available in twin and queen sizes, which became available yesterday.

Soft, Ambient Lighting

As I curated my list of cozy fall bedroom decorating ideas, I sought to create a warm and inviting ambiance reminiscent of autumn evenings. To achieve this, candles are strategically placed on our nightstands, casting a soft and serene glow that fosters relaxation. The gentle flicker of the flames adds a sense of tranquility to the space, making it feel snug and cozy. For added convenience, I recommend keeping a candle lighter nearby for effortless lighting.

With a well-lit bedside arrangement consisting of candles, trays, bedside carafes, jewelry boxes, and nightstands, you’ll be perfectly poised to unwind in style.

To complete our cozy fall bedroom, we incorporated natural elements that evoke the beauty of the changing season. A faux pampas wreath adorns the door leading to our bathroom, while a vase filled with vibrant fall-colored zinnias adds a pop of color to our bedside table. These organic touches inject a sense of freshness and vitality into the room, fostering a connection to nature’s splendor.

To enhance the autumnal ambiance, I added a skinny gold velvet ribbon to both the wreath and the vase, infusing them with an extra layer of warmth and coziness. Beneath the zinnias, I layered a brown vintage plate and a blue flea market plate, both thoughtful finds that add character to our space. Creating a Cozy Window Seating Nook with Storage

While our bedroom may be compact, we’ve cleverly optimized every available space. A highlight is the window seating area, which boasts built-in storage and a snug atmosphere perfect for getting lost in a book on a brisk fall day. The soft block print quilt and assortment of pillows create an inviting ambiance.

To make this cozy corner even more charming, I’ve added a few thoughtful touches – a soft felt pumpkin adds a pop of autumnal flair, while a tortoise shell vase filled with an array of seasonal grasses brings in a natural element that complements the space nicely.

Maximizing Space with Underbed Storage

Maximizing Space with Underbed Storage

To maximize space in our home, we implemented a creative solution: utilizing underbed storage. We installed rolling basket drawers beneath our bed to store linens, blankets, and seasonal decorations out of sight, yet easily accessible. This ingenious hack not only keeps our belongings organized but also preserves the cozy ambiance. In fact, I discovered these baskets on Facebook Marketplace, which originally came from IKEA.

To replicate this solution for yourself, I’ve linked similar basket options that can be easily modified with wheels to create your own rolling storage.

We’ve recently revamped our bedroom decor with upgraded nightstands featuring built-in storage, which not only adds a touch of elegance but also provides a practical spot to stash essentials, maintaining a clutter-free and inviting atmosphere. The versatility of these nightstands is impressive, available in various colors and at an affordable price point. I’m particularly fond of the gold accents, although I may soon find myself inclined to swap out the handles for a more customized look.

Nevertheless, they’re undeniably charming – even my daughter has given them her seal of approval! Our closet space might be on the smaller side, but the previous homeowners’ thoughtful installation of built-in closets has alleviated any concerns, allowing us to comfortably store our fall wardrobe and enjoy a tidy and organized space.

Soft, Inviting Rug for Fall

To give the space a warm and inviting feel, we added a braided jute rug with scallop details and white inlay trim. This simple yet effective addition instantly elevates the room’s ambiance and has quickly become my favorite design element. The inspiration for this rug came from Serena and Lily’s website, where I fell in love with a similar design. However, I couldn’t justify the price tag, so when I stumbled upon an almost identical option on Amazon, I knew I had to have it!

Mike was equally impressed, and we both agreed that it was a steal. To complement the rug, I chose new white gourd lamps from Home Goods, which cast a soft, golden glow that adds to the cozy ambiance. The gold round mirror behind the lamp is actually on loan from my mom, a flea market find that brings an extra touch of elegance to the space. Its beauty is undeniable. As we’ve continued to refine our room’s design, it feels like everything has come together in harmony.

Sometimes, after a long day, I’ll walk in and pinch myself to make sure this is really our home – and the answer is always yes! I genuinely love the space we’ve created.

Frequently Asked Questions about Our Bedroom

The interior design of my home has been shaped by various elements, starting with the walls painted in Sherwin Williams’ Drifts of Mist. Interestingly, the bamboo shades that adorn them came as part of the house’s original fixtures, sporting labels from Lowes. The curtains, too, were inherited from the previous owners but I’ve linked similar options HERE for those looking to recreate the look.

Meanwhile, my bed has an interesting backstory – it was a Facebook Marketplace find, though its origins can be traced back to IKEA.
