Budget Friendly Bedroom Makeover
The phenomenon of neglecting the master bedroom is surprisingly common. Many of us can relate to leaving it as one of the last spaces to be updated or even forgotten altogether. This could be due to the fact that other areas of the house are more frequently visited by guests, and used by everyone else in the household. I recently had an opportunity to revamp my sister-in-law’s master bedroom on a budget.
Inspired by Joanna Gaines’ effortless design sense from Fixer Upper, I started by creating a mood board featuring a curated selection of affordable pieces that worked harmoniously together. The first item on my list was an affordable headboard from Amazon, with the king-size option available for under $150. I also added other budget-friendly decorative elements, including a gorgeous rug, lamps, and throw blanket. You can find all the items linked in the roundup below.

When revamping your bedroom on a limited budget, it’s crucial to prioritize wisely. To achieve a stunning transformation without breaking the bank, focus on these key areas:
Cost Saving Tips
Instead of investing in a full bed frame, consider purchasing a headboard that can add a touch of elegance to your bedroom. I opted for an affordable option from Amazon, which not only fits my budget but also provides great quality. Similarly, when it comes to textiles, you don’t need to break the bank. Look for affordable rugs and throws that fit your style and budget. I recently discovered an amazing deal on a rug that’s 60% off its original price – an 8×10 size would only cost $274!
Additionally, I picked up a striped fringe throw for just $29, which adds a nice touch to my bedroom decor. To further simplify the space, remove any clutter and add decorative items that complement your furniture. Foliage, vases, and frames can go a long way in creating a cozy atmosphere. You can also remove unsightly distractions like old blinds, outdated pictures, and technology.
I replaced my accordion blinds with drapes and swapped my workspace for an accent chair, which made the room feel warm and inviting. Don’t forget to shop your house! Move items around or give them a new location to breathe new life into them. And if you’re looking for affordable alternatives to expensive art prints, consider purchasing digital artwork. I recently used ‘Hazy Lakefront’ from my collection, Collection Prints, which was printed by a local printer and framed in an IKEA RIBBA frame.
Finally, don’t overlook the small details that can make a big impact. Replace generic knobs and pulls on your furniture with custom options to give them a unique touch. I recommend checking out these knobs if you’re in the market for some! So, what’s your favorite part of this makeover? Let me know in the comments below!
